Vehicle Details
This 1969 roadrunner convertible was purchased new at P-K Chrysler Plymouth in Shamokin, Pa 17872 on May 21, 1970 a full year after it was built. It was sold to a gentleman that was looking at a sublime green superbird but he got such a good deal on this so he got the convertible instead. He lived in Mount carmel, Pa. about 6 miles from Shamokin, Pa. and it has been there ever since. The build date on the car was june 17, 1969 at the St. Louis, Missouri plant.
The car has 91,636 orignal miles. The car is near all original except for tires, belts, hoses and one repaint, same original color burnished bronze metallic color code T7, and the driver side quater panel replaced back in 1975 due to a fender bender. The bumpers and all of the trim is original and are in nice condition. The bumpers do show a little chrome fade but are rust free. The car still retains the rest of it's original sheetmetal and is 99% rust free except for the reaplced quater that had a little filer to blend in. The convertible top is the original one and is in beautiful condition. This car is a 2 owner car. I personally know both owners and have talked to them both about the car so I know the entire history on the car. It was garage kept most of it's life, not all but most. The car was started on occasion to keep the engine parts lubed up and running right when it was parked and stored over the years when not in use.
Now to the full conditon of the car. It is 99% rust free. The floors, doors, inner fender and quaters, cowl, rad support, fenders, passenger side quarter and trunk and trunk extentions are all original to the car with the exception for the drivers side entire rear quater panel, which was replace due to a fender bender back in the mid 1970's. All the sheetmetal is rock solid with no rust. The trunk and trunk lid lip has just a very little amount of some scale surface which can be sanded down and repainted. All the glass is original to the car as well and in great condition. How many convertible from 1969 do you find with the original top that is in near perfect condition, with the only exception of a broken zipper on the rear glass window.
The interior is original and in very nice condition. The seats are in great shape and are tear free. The rear seat that you sit on is black but has a different design because it came from another convertible. the 2nd owners son used this to go to school one week in the late 70's and had the car parked at the school with the top down for a couple of hours and when he came back the rear seat was stolen out of it so he found another out of another convertible a 70 i think but has different design on it. He never got it redone to match. other than that the seats are perfect. The gauges work except for the gas gauge, the float is not working right. All the lights work as well as the heater and fan motor and the wipers as well as the power convertible top. The rad support and the cowl have the vin # stamped on them and they do match.
The entire engine, transmission and rear end are totally matching #'s as well. The engin has all of it's original components such as intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, valve covers, radiator, fan, oil pan, etc. all original to the car. I personally checked out every vin stamping on the body and drivetrain and ran all the casting #'s as well to make sure they matched and were correct and they are. The car starts right up and idles very nice. The transmission shifts fine. I did change all the fluids oil, transmission and coolant as well as the filters. I also did replace the original water pump because it did leak a little, as well as the fuel pump. They were the original from 1969 so I kept them so they can be rebuilt if someone wanted to.
The trim tag reads as follows C55(non-reclining bucket seats) J25(3 speed wipers) M21(belt moldings belt and hood mouldings) R11(music master am radio) Y16(sales bank car) T7(burnished bronze metallic) M( medium grade trim) 6(bucket vinyl) X(black) X9(black) 617(june 17th) 208235(vehicle order #) E63(383 4 barrel 335HP) D32(heavy duty auto) RM27(roadrunner) END
The Vin # reads RM27H9G290730 which breaks down to 1969 roadrunner convertible with 383(335HP) made in St Louis, Missouri.
I also looked for the build sheet when i got the car and it was found under the driver seat thats the good news, But the bad is that the vin # for the original build sheet that was found reads RM27H9G290728 which was 2 cars before my car at the assembly plant. That car was a roadrunner convertible bucket seat car with console and was a different color outside but same interior color as mine. So these bucket seats were mixed up with mine and bet that that car has my build sheet under it's drivers seat. The original owner still lives in Mount carmel, Pa and so I did talk to the original owner and he told me that the hubcaps that are on the car are the original and that the car came with Goodyear polyglass raised white letter tires. He also stated that he has some pictures of the car when new and that he is very sure hat he has the original window sticker and will give it to me to sell with the car. He said he has to look for it but he is very sure he knows where he has it.
This is a chance to own a rare peice of Mopar muscle. Plymouth only made 2,027 roadrunner convertibles made that year which was the first for bucket seats and for the convertible as well. How many are left? How many are all matching numbers? How many still have the original top? How many have all original sheetmetal except for one quaterpanel? This car is as solid as they come, rock solid. This car needs a little here and there like, the paint does have some chips and the motor and trans need detailing but very little. Don't miss your chance to own this very well kept original low production all matching number Roadrunner convertible.
This is priced to sell very quick so please call me direct at 570-875-7109, this is my cell and you can call me anytime even on the weekends. Thanks and have a great day.
